Cove students compete at the Texas Archery Tournament

The Central Texas College (CTC) Foundation will host its ninth annual Spring Fashion Show and Luncheon on Friday, April 7 at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center. Co-sponsored by Metroplex Health System and Seton Medical Center, the event will benefit the CTC Department of Nursing and Allied Health scholarship program.
The Olan Forrest Smith VFW Post 8577 Auxiliary will have its annual Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 15, at 11 a.m. Refreshments will be served.
The event is for infants to 12 years of age. Categories are infant to one year, 2-3 years, 4-6 years, 7-9 years, and ages 10-12.
The VFW Post 8577 Auxiliary is holding its yearly elections at its April 17 meeting at 7 p.m.
All members in good standing are asked to attend and vote. Monthly meetings are held the third Monday of each month at the post, located at 1506 Veterans Ave. Contact president Karen Kaylor with any questions at 254-547-5619.
Alzheimer’s Texas will host an educational Lunch N’ Learn in Copperas Cove on Friday, April 21, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 101 W. Avenue F.
Steve Catoe, Positive Approach to Care, Validation Therapy Trainer, and Alzheimer’s Texas Education Specialist, will present tips and strategies for effective communication with persons with dementia.
On April 13, 14, 15 at 7 p.m. each night, the Cove Church of the Nazarene, located at 964 W. Business 190, is holding its annual live musical drama, “More Than Just a Man”.
Admission is free, with childcare for newborns through age 2 provided.
The Copperas Cove Youth Advisory Council is a Mother Son Dance at the Copperas Cove Civic Center, located at 1206 W. Ave. B, on Saturday, May 6 from 5-8 p.m.
There will be a DJ, dancing, food, and pictures. Tickets are on sale now at 1408 Golf Course Rd., cash or check only. $20 a couple, $5 for an extra son, and $10 for an extra mom. Cost is $25 at the door.
The Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful (KCCB) Commission is pleased to offer the 2017 Heart of Volunteerism Adam Luciano Scholarship. Established in 2015 to honor the volunteerism and community service of Adam Luciano, the scholarship is awarded to a student for their accomplishments and service to their community.
VFW Auxiliary 8577 is announcing participation in the Nursing Scholarship Program for the Dept. of Texas VFW Auxiliary. This year the State of Texas will be giving out three scholarships. First Place will be $2,000, second place $1,500, and third place $1,000. Submit a double-spaced typewritten essay of 300 words or less on the topic: “Having chosen the career in nursing, what impact do you feel you can have on veterans and their families?”.
