Early voting ends Tuesday ahead of June 15 runoff election

Early voting for the runoff election for Copperas Cove city council place 5 began on Monday, June 3.
A total of 144 ballots have been cast through June 6, which includes 111 at the Copperas Cove Voting Center, located at 508 B Cove Terrace Shopping Center. The grand total also includes 33 mail-in ballots.
Polls are open today, June 7 until 5 p.m. There are two early voting days, next week, June 10-11, with polls open 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Election day voting will also be at the Copperas Cove Voting Center, with polls open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., on Saturday, June 15.
The runoff election is between the May 4 election’s top two vote-getters, Dale Treadway and Timothy Traeger.
Treadway received 31.73 percent, or 568 votes, and Traeger received 28.48 percent, or 491 votes.
According to Copperas Cove city charter, a winning candidate must receive a minimum of 50 percent-plus one of the votes.
The term of office for Place 5 expires in November 2025.
