31-year-old Shasmine Ta Shawn Clack of Copperas Cove, a mother of five, lost her life on Saturday after she was shot at her Tanner Road residence.

According to a Saturday media release by the Copperas Cove Police Department, police responded shortly before noon on Saturday to Clack’s residence after receiving a call about a gunshot victim.

They discovered Clack with multiple gunshot wounds and began life-saving measures. Clack was transported to AdventHealth hospital in Killeen, where she died from the injuries.

After speaking with witnesses on scene, officers identified 27-year-old Alonzo Ezekiel Hunter, who was known to Clack. He was located at Comfort Suites hotel in Copperas Cove and was taken into custody without incident.

Hunter was already set to appear on Monday, February 3 in the 52nd Judicial District Court Docket for an assault charge. He was out on a $15,000 bond in connection with that charge.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe has been set up by Clack’s family to help with funeral and services. That site can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-shass-family-in-their-time-of-loss.

“On behalf of the Copperas Cove Police Department, we extend our sincerest condolences to her family, friends, and all those affected by this tragic loss.”

Hunter, of Beaumont, was charged with murder and was arraigned on Sunday by Justice of the Peace F.W. “Bill” Price, who set his bond at $500,000.

“This remains an ongoing investigation, and no additional information will be provided at this time,” Lt. Baker stated in the media release.

Lt. Baker confirmed that Clack’s children are with a family member.
