One of Copperas Cove’s own, Michael Uini, will get to play on a field in an upcoming bowl game that few qualify for.
The offensive line junior who wears #55 was recognized last Friday morning prior to the start of classes with a special jersey by Under Armour.
In turn, Uini donated the commemorative jersey back to his school, to hopefully serve as an inspiration to those who come after him.
“Today, I am presented with this Under Armour jersey, but in return I would like to donate it to Copperas Cove High School to have, to be a driving force to motivate our future and current student-athletes,” Uini said during the presentation.
More than 100 players from across the nation, including, Uini, will spend a week in Orlando, Florida, in where they will train and prepare to compete at the Next All-America Football game on Jan. 3 at Camping World Stadium.
Other sports will be represented in Orlando, to include basketball and volleyball.
Uini has a bright future after his days on the field as a high school player are over. The member of the class of 2025 has already had more than 40 offers to play at the next level. This summer, he announced that he would attend and play for the University of Georgia.
Bulldawgs head coach Tony Johnson, in his second year at Copperas Cove, said it wasn’t long after his arrival that scouts were taking notice of the underclassman’s talent.
