Despite looming storm clouds and the threat of rain, 95 dedicated cyclists participated in the Cove House Emergency Homeless Shelter’s annual biking event on Saturday morning.

The Cove House Classic Bike Tour began bright and early at 7:30 a.m., 30 minutes earlier than usual, a fact which pleased some and irked others. Riders could ride in the 26 mile, 42 mile, 50 mile, or 63 mile course. All of the courses began and ended at the First Baptist Church of Copperas Cove. Participation was $30 for those who pre-registered, and $35 for those who paid on the day of the event. All proceeds from the event went to Cove House to help them to continue operating smoothly.

Cove House is a non-profit service ministry whose stated vision is to “Provide for the needy, empower the poor, all for the glory of God.” Cove House works to supply food, shelter, and support for residents. Their ultimate goal is for everyone in Cove and the surrounding area to have sufficient food, shelter, employment, and clothing.
