10 Bulldawgs named to All-District list; 4 named Academic All-State

The Bulldawgs had a topsy-turvy, injury-plagued season, however some of the Bulldawgs were recently recognized for their contributions to the team. 

Leading the pack was District 12-6A leading rusher senior Micah Cox who finish the season with 1,533 yards and 19 touchdowns on 229 carries.

Senior wide receivers Jahmeel Rice and Jaylin Smith earned spots as Second Team Receivers.

Smith led the Bulldawgs with (34 catches for 353 yards and three scores while Rice had a9 catches for 282 yards and two scores. 

Senior Eric Morris got the nod on the Offensive Guard Second Team to close out the offensive accolades.

Senior Nate David was a named a Second Team Linebacker. He finished  with (51 tackles, including 4.5 tackles for losses, three forced fumbles and two recoveries.

Air Force-bound Jerome Gaillard closed out the Second Team selections as a safety. He finished the season with 51.5 tackles, including 3.5 TFL, seven pass break ups and three interce[tions.

Receiving Honorable Mention were senior running back Elijah Delacruz, senior center Aaron Shanahan, junior tight end Rusty Cochran and senior defensive tackle Zachary Hoyle.

Senior Christian Tuiasosopo, senior Ethan Swanner, senior Joey Harrison and senior Aaron Grant were named to the Academic All-State list.

Receivign 12-6A Superlatives were Midway senior Will Nixon (District MVP), Temple senior Vance Willis (Offensive Player of the Year), Midway senior Carson Byrd (Defensive Player of the Year), sophomore Samari Howard (Offensive Newcomer of the Year) and Temple freshman Taurean York and Midway sophomore Za’Cobie Haverly were named Co-Defenvive Newcomers of the Year. 

Joining Cox on the First Team Offense were: Quarterback - Shoemaker junior Ty Bell; Running Back - Temple senior Anthony Jackson and Killeen junior Kadarius Marshall; Fullback - Harker Heights junior Quintin Howard; Wide Receiver - temple senior Quentin Johnson, Shoemaker junior Monaray Baldwin, Harker Heights senior Mikelle Mason, Waco senior jerome Ratliff and Midway sophomore Jaylon Gibson; Tight End - temple senior Tyson Magana; Center - Temple senior Markel Carter; Offensive Guard - Temple senior Dakari White, Shoemaker senior Thomas Devoux, and Midway senior Wesley Ndago; Offensive Tackle - Belton junior Thomas Bowman, Ellison senior Kaleb Luna, and Killeen senior Jaden Jones; Utility - Shoemaker junior De’Andre Exford.

The selections to the First Team Defense were: Defensive Tackle Ellison senior Everitt Rogers and Killeen senior Ta’Shoyn Johnson; Defensive End - Harker Heights senior Malachi Robinson and Midway senior Braden Endsley; Inside Linebacker - Waco senior Daishawn Fisher and Harker Heights senior Reece Vasquez; Outside Linebacker - Midway senior JB Brown and Ellison senior Antoniop Brunson; Cornerback - Temple senior Roman Jackson, Midway senior Za’Carius Murray, and Harker Heights senior Ronald Gurley; and Safety - Midway senior Eli Garvin and Harker Heights junior Savonte Sanford-Paige.

The First Team Special Teams selections were: Kicker - temple junior Aaron Wagaman; Punter - Belton senior Logan Smith; Deep Snapper - Midway senior Duff Hunt; Returner - Waco senior Jerome Ratliff and Staff of the Year – Midway.

Rounding out the Second Team Offense were: Quarterback - Midway junior Jared Moore, Belton junior Ruben Jimenez, Killeen senior James Terry and Ellison senior Breezion Spiller; Running Back Ellison junior Damashja Harris, Shoemaker junior Devin Brown, Heights senior Andre Gebhardt; Fullback - Belton senior Anthony Peters and Shoemaker junior K’Zjari Herrera; Wide Receiver - Shoemaker junior Trenton Hudson, temple junior AJ McDuffy, Midway junior Zach Stewart, Ellison junior Traelen Williams and senior Stacy Brown, , Killeen senior Quamon Williams and Midway senior Xavier Harris; Tight End - Killeen senior Nate Kamper; Center - Midway senior John Gorrell; Offensive Guard - Belton senior Chris Brown, Midway senior Emmanuel Benson and Temple senior Daniel Lopez; Offensive Tackle - Heights senior Isaiah Pena, Temple junior Alex Rodriguez, Midway junior Declan McCabe, Heights senior Chris Terry, temple senior Dayton Lewis and Midway senior Caleb Davis; Utility - Belton senior D’emante Smith.

Eric Shorter, and Midway junior Max Martinez; Inside Linebacker - Shoemaker junior Za’Veon Cummings, Shoemaker junior Keith Cunningham, Midway junior Reid Cromie and Killeen senior Elijah Taylor; Outside Linebacker - Heights senior Malik Wilson, Waco senior Keith Guillory Jr, and Belton senior Coby Trovinger; Cornerback - Midway senior Gerrard London, Ellison seniors Isaiah Grant and KJ Wilkerson, and Heights senior Darian Stephens; and Safety - Temple freshman Mikal Harrison-Pilot.
