James R Kelly

DECEMBER 15, 1952 ~ Nov. 1, 2022

James R Kelly passed away at 1658 on 01 November 2022 at the age of 69.

He lived a good life fulfilling his goals and dreams serving our nation in the top ranks as a Non-Commissioned Officer.  Then pursuing a fulfilling career as a self-employed Master Mechanic and Creating Cove Auto Repair, Cove Propane, Cove Discount Tire, Cove Tubes and Hoses, and Cove Fina. He even won the 1988 Super Stock Championship at Central Texas Speedway while enjoying his racer car hobby.  He had the very best friends a man could ask for who cared for him without exception.  He developed his two sons and grandson by employing them at his shops and teaching  them attention to detail, do their best, be honest, and work hard.  He sent them out into the world where the values he instilled led both his sons to the very top of their industries. He was very intelligent, valued honesty, and helped many, many people along the way.  He was known as Jimmy, Jimbo, and Jim by his friends and family.  As a race car driver, his peers nicknamed him Gentle Jim for his driving skill and ability.  As a mechanic he was called honest Jim for his honesty and attention to detail that had customers return again and again.

He is survived by two sons, (Billy and Bobby Kelly) and eight grandchildren (Adam, Mathew, Emma, Ryan, Dustin, Faith, Briana, and Robbie).  We will miss him very much and are grateful that he is saved, believes in the lord and is destined for heaven.

A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on November 13th at his home starting at 2:00 PM.

His remains will be rested in Central Texas State Veteran Cemetery where he will receive full Military Honors, for his sacrifices made to our Country that he was proud to serve.
