After a Tuesday evening incident that involved shots fired at a residence in the 2400 block of Spirit Dancer Drive in Copperas Cove, three Copperas Cove men are now in the Coryell County Jail on bonds totaling $650,000 apiece.

Copperas Cove police officers were dispatched around 9:38 p.m. to the residence on Spirit Dancer Drive after a report of shots being fired. According to a press release from the Copperas Cove Police Department, the caller stated a vehicle sped away from the residence. The caller provided a vehicle description and direction of travel.

The exterior of the residence had been struck by multiple rounds, and officers located shotgun shells on the ground nearby. There was property damage to the residence, but no injuries to the six adults and four minors there at the time.

Officers located the vehicle at a residence in the 1100 block of South 23rd Street and identified three adult suspects, and also learned there was a minor in the vehicle with the suspects when the shooting occurred. The minor was found to be uninjured.

“It was determined this incident stemmed from a previous altercation and the individuals were known to each other, posing no further threat to the community,” said Lt. Krystal Baker with the Copperas Cove police Department.

The three suspects are 32-year-old Robert Wayne Darley, 31-year-old Chance Taylor Fountaine, and 24-year-old Shields Michael Chambers.

They were taken into custody without incident and each charged with Deadly Conduct Discharge Firearm, Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, Tampering/Fabricating Physical Evidence, five counts of Abandon/Endanger a Child, and six counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

The three were arraigned on Feb. 29 by Justice of the Peace F.W. Bill Price and received the total of $650,000 each in bonds for the charges.

CCPD’s Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate this incident.
