Ira Brand to be honored with Book of Golden Deeds award

The three Exchange Clubs of Copperas Cove – the Morning, Noon, and Evening Exchange Clubs, will be awarding the annual Book of Golden Deeds to longtime Copperas Cove resident, veteran, business owner, and volunteer Ira Brand. 

The three clubs will join together for a banquet on Friday, April 19, at 6:30 p.m., at the Holy Family Catholic Church social hall in Copperas Cove. Doors open at 6 p.m. for social time, and banquet tickets are $20. Those who are interested in tickets should contact Sharon Tabor at sharontabor1@yahoo.com. Deadline to RSVP is April 10. Tickets can be paid for via Venmo or payments may be dropped off at Refresh Spa & Salon, located at 312 E. Avenue D.

The Exchange Club Book of Golden Deeds program honors the quiet, good deeds of America’s unsung heroes who make a difference in the local community.

Ira J. Brand retired from service in the United States Army, serving from 1973-1993 and completed his service as a First Sergeant. 

Brand has been a member of Copperas Cove Exchange clubs since 2000. He is a member of all three of the Exchange Clubs, Morning, Noon, and Evening clubs, and is a charter member of the “Evening” Club, chartered in 2023.

He has volunteered for more than five years for the annual Feast of Sharing, delivered meals on wheels with the morning club and noon club, participates in Give A Kid A Flag at S.C. Lee and Copperas Cove High School, and has participated in the annual Make A Difference Day at the Sunshine Home. 

Brand has also served on the board of the Copperas Cove Boys and Girls club for six years, having served as president of the board multiple times. 

Among the boards and organizations where he has served include: Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce board of directors, Copperas Cove Education Foundation, Greater Fort Hood United Way, Central Texas Life Underwriters Association, Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful Commission, Copperas Cove Chamber Ambassadors, past member of the CCISD site-based decision committee, past member of the Avenue E site-based decision committee, University of Central Texas Social Workers Association; and past founding member of the intial board of directors for the Killeen Free Clinic.

He has a bachelor of science in social work from the University of Maryland and has studied at the Life Underwriters Training Council, MetLife Financial Training Institute, Edward Jones Investment training, writes personal and commercial lines of insurance and Allstate exclusive agents training.  

Brand has lived in Copperas Cove for more than 24 years and owns Brand Financial Services LLC, Allstate.Briefs
