Early voting starts this week

Early voting for the Nov. 6 general and special election began yesterday, with a total of 847 voters casting ballots in Copperas Cove and 690 in Gatesville, for a total of 1,537 voters county wide.
Polls for early voting are located in Copperas Cove at the Coryell County Justice Center, located at 210 S. 1st St. and in Gatesville at the Main St. Annex, 801 E. Leon St. 
Polling dates and times are as follows:
Oct. 23, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Oct. 24-26, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. 
Oct. 29, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. 
Oct. 30, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. 
Oct. 31-Nov. 2, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Three positions on the Copperas Cove city council are up for election, places 1 and 2, as well as mayor. 
Cheryl Meredith and Joann Courtland are running for Place 1, and incumbent James Pierce Jr. and Fred Chavez running for Place 2. For the position of mayor, incumbent Frank Seffrood is facing both Joey Acfalle and Azeita Taylor. 
In the race for Copperas Cove Independent School District board of trustees, Place 1 and Place 2 are up for election. Inez Faison, who holds Place 1, faces challenger John Gallen. The race for Place 2 is a four-way race, with incumbent Harry L. Byrd facing Joseph Leary, Shameria Ann Davis and Jeff Gorres. 
Voting on Tuesday, Nov. 6 will take place at locations county wide to include the Copperas Cove Civic Center, 1206 W. Ave. B, Holy Family Catholic Church, 1001 Georgetown Rd.; Eastside Baptist Church, 1202 MLK Jr. Dr.; Gatesville Civic Center, 303 Veterans Memorial Loop, Gatesville; Evant City Hall, 598 E. Hwy 84, Evant; Turnersville Community Center, 8115 FM 182, Gatesville; Flat Community Center, 159 CR 334, Flat; and Oglesby Community Center, 118 Main St., Oglesby.
