Cove police, area agencies arrest felon on foot

On Thursday afternoon, Copperas Cove police were notified about the sighting of a man who had outstanding felony warrants in the vicinity of Wolfe Road and Golf Course Drive.

40-year-old Christy Romano Jr., of Copperas Cove, was stopped in a vehicle by police in the 1800 block of North Main Street.

Romano who was a passenger, fled on foot. According to a press release issued on Friday, during the pursuit, Romano made threats to shoot officers.

“With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals, Coryell County Sheriff's Office, Killeen Police Department's K-9 Unit, Department of Public Safety, and the Fort Cavazos Police Department, a perimeter was established to locate Romano,” said Lt. Krystal Baker with the Copperas Cove Police Department.

“A short time later, a citizen reported a suspicious individual in the 400 block of West Anderson Avenue. Responding officers located and apprehended Christy Romano without further incident.”

Romano faces several outstanding felony warrants related to previous incidents of domestic violence.

Additionally, he has been charged with making Terrorist Threats against a Peace Officer and Evading Arrest/Detention with previous convictions stemming from this incident.

He was arraigned on Friday by Justice of the Peace John Guinn and received a total bond of $86,000.
