The total solar eclipse of April 8, 2024 is months away, but outdoor camping and RV spot reservations are now open at Ogletree Gap Preserve in Copperas Cove, Texas.

Copperas Cove is in the path of totality of the solar eclipse, with more than 3-1/2 minutes expected.

As such, the city is preparing for visitors from across Texas and beyond.

Reservations are accepted for April 5-9, with a three-night minimum.

A 20x40 RV spot is $200 per night and allows for one vehicle in addition to the RV, and must be self-contained.

A 12x30 tent spot is $100 per night and allows for one vehicle in addition to the tent, likewise with a three-night minimum.

Ogletree Gap Preserve is more than 200 acres on the west side of Copperas Cove, a bustling community several miles west of the main gate of Fort Cavazos.

The preserve has open skies for great viewing.

The park space will also be the site of vendors, live music, and activities during the time leading up to and the day of the solar eclipse.
