Little Dawg football camp is getting close

Who doesn’t remember going to summer camp, whether it was scouts camp, church camp or family style? Of course, lately my wife’s idea of camping is a five-star hotel with some big mall nearby.

      Recently, I got an email from a former KOOV co-worker named Mike Clay, who once was Dawg football radio analyst on the game broadcasts, reminding me to forget summer partying and get my mind on football where it needs to be.

      So…summer…football...and camp...now, that’s a great combination!

      Coach told me about the first-ever Little Dawg Football Camp which is scheduled for July 11-13 from 6 p,m. to 8 p.m. at the Bulldawg field house.

      Johnson explained the gathering was limited to boys and girls entering grades 2-6, which I agree with, since these up and coming athletes will get the best teaching available at this impressionable early age from our Bulldawg coaching staff with a foundation being laid for future success.

      All three phases of the game will be covered, with campers being taught what it means to play positions on offense, defense and special teams. Instruction on staying healthy and proper nutrition will be offered, as will the important areas of leadership and character development.

     Little Dawg Football Camp won’t be all work and no play, either. Coach Johnson said each day’s session will wind up with live 7-on-7 games to get those competitive juices going.
