Reynolds Armory will be opening later this month and will be offering custom gun builds, gun transfer services, gun cleanings and more. Reynolds Armory is located at 2210 E. Bus. 190, Suite 6.
Owner Ashton Reynolds said he received his first firearm, a Ruger 10/22, from his grandfather, when he was younger. This started his love and appreciation for firearms.
Reynolds joined the military right out of high school, and his appreciation of firearms grew as he went through more and more training.
After leaving the military, Reynolds’ interest in firearms continued, and he decided that he wanted to go into arms dealing industry and own his own business.
With the help of his fiancé, Mary Smith, who owns Oakheart Photography which located in the same building as Reynolds Armory, Reynolds was able to find a space and get started on the process of opening his own storefront.
Due to the pandemic, the timeline for opening Reynolds Armory to the public has been pushed and delayed. Reynolds estimates opening to the public by mid-September, with a larger grand opening to follow later.
While he hopes to be able to offer gunsmithing services eventually, Reynolds Armory will first be focused on doing gun transfers and gun cleanings as well as gun builds. Reynolds has a Type O7 License which gives him permission to assemble and manufacture firearms and ammunition. Reynolds said customers can bring in their parts for their gun, and he can build them a new lower or upper AR, as well as ordering parts directly to build in house. For an AR lower build or upper build, Reynolds Armory will start at $50. A trigger only install will start at $35.  For an  Reynolds Armory will also sell ammunition and accessories for firearms.
Reynolds has lived in Copperas Cove since 2014. Although he was stationed at Fort Bliss in 2009, he credits Copperas Cove as his first real experience with living in Texas since he was deployed for most of his time in El Paso.
Finally being able to open his own business in Texas is something he is very excited about, he added. Being able to offer a business that firearm enthusiasts can come to and enjoy is another bonus.
“I’m actually very excited about that because I’m very passionate about firearms and the Second Amendment,” Reynolds said. “To me, the Second Amendment is a right, you know. It’s a market for you to express your God-given right of the Second Amendment of you being able to bear arms. To me, that’s what it is.”
Reynolds said he loves getting to learn about other people and their history and experience with firearms, but he also loves seeing people who are new to firearms. He also always stresses the importance of firearm safety, he added.
Reynolds Armory has a website at https://www.reynoldsarmory.com/.  They also have a Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ReynoldsArmory and an Instagram account under the username @reynoldsarmory.
Reynolds also hopes to start a YouTube channel for his shop, where he will post videos about new guns coming out and reviews of some firearms that go into more detail of how they work.
The hours of operation will be Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and by appointment only on Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday.
