KILLEEN – The Copperas Cove Lady Dawgs had one shot left to snag the final playoff spot against the Shoemaker Lady Grey Wolves. Cove rallied from 18 points down to defeat the Lady Wolves in the first round of district action but Shoemaker on senior night with their first playoff berth since 2008 on the line wouldn’t let lighting strike twice as they held off the Lady Dawgs 48-32 to earn that playoff berth.
Despite dominating on the boards with 59 rebounds, including 30 offensive boards, the Lady Dawgs could not convert those opportunities to points as they shot 16 percent for the game.
“I’m not going to take away anything from Shoemaker but, at the same time, we’ve got to make shots,” said Copperas Cove head coach Eldridge McAdams. “We didn’t and I think that was the difference in the game.”
