In a very limited sample the Cove football team has given some indication that the air attack of a few years ago, under the direction of Manny Harris, is alive and well in the 2016 edition of the Bulldaws with the twoheaded lefty monster of senior Caine Garner and junior Jaylen Smith.
Fans were able to get a small taste of the options available for their two offensive weapons as both guys got playing time in their 27-14 win over a muchimproved Nuevo León squad that shocked district rival Shoemaker 23-14 in their United States tour opener last week.
“It’s going to throw the defense a little bit,” said Garner. “They don’t know what position we’re at. He could be at wide receiver or quarterback and I can be at running back, quarterback or receiver and that kind of gives us an advantage on game day.”
