William Dudley Thomas (Lt. Col Retired), 69, lovingly known as “Bill”, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014 in a tragic car accident. Bill’s family will gather for visitation on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Beck Funeral Home, 1700 East Whitestone Blvd., Cedar Park, Texas. A service celebrating his life and faithful service to country will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, November 3, 2014 at Beck Funeral Home in Cedar Park. The United States Army Honor Guard will deliver honors. Bill was born in Tyler, Texas on April 23, 1945 to the late Frederick and Lura Belle Thomas Davis. Raised in that area he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and went on to ttend Tyler Junior College for a brief period of time before getting called into the military. Before leaving in the military Bill married the love of his life, Georgia Christine Thompson. Bill served his country for many years in military intelligence. He was proud of what he gave to his country and the honor he brought to his family. Most of his military years were spent in Vietnam; he was captured and held as a POW, yet escaped to return to service. Bill was presented with the Bronze Star, 2 Silver Stars, and 4 Purple Hearts for hiscourageous actions. Over the years Bill and his family lived in Pflugerville and Lago Vista for over 7 years before moving to Copperas Cove in 2003. Having strong opinions and clear political views were good for Bill when he wrote for local papers over the years. Most recently his project was assisting female athletes to find scholarships to continue their education. Bill enjoyed fishing and hunting, the marina at Lago Vista was one of his favorite fishing spots. Gardening was really Georgia’s hobby but over the years as illness took her strength away he took it up to please her and actually began to enjoy it and produced beautiful roses and lots of tomatoes. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Almon “Daddy Buck” Commadore and Lura Belle Davis Stewart. Bill leaves behind to cherish his memory and continue his legacy is his loving wife of over 50 years, Georgia Thomas; his children, Donna Mumme of Lago Vista, Diana Landoll and her husband Pete ofLawton, OK, and William Maxwell “Max” Thomas of Gatesville; his three brothers, John Frederick Thomas and his wife Gloria, David Commadore Stewart and his wife Leanne, and Joe Edward Stewart; his grandchildren, Brittany Kristine Barlow and her husband John, Jessica Jordan Love and her husband Jeremy, Kurstin Sage Thomas, Weston Joseph Mumme, Lizabeth Anne Landoll,and Lauren Nicole Landoll; his great grandchildren, Liberty Sage Love, Kathryn Raegan Barlow, and Temperance Shiloh Love; along with a host of other loving family members and friends.
