Minor Edward Taylor, 85, died peacefully at his home in Oakalla, Texas September 8, 2014. He was born August 29, 1929 in Galveston, Texas to Willis Ray and Sophie Taylor. As a young man Mr. Taylor worked on the family dairy farm. He honorably served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After leaving the service in 1953 he worked for Union Carbide in Texas City. During this time he met and married the love of his life Carolyn House of Copperas Cove. They settled in Kemah, Texas and provided a loving home to their 5 children. Upon his retirement, the family moved to Copperas Cove in 1973 and along with his wife owned and operated Anderson Mountain Trailer Park providing affordable housing to the service men of Fort Hood. Upon full retirement he moved to Oakalla. Mr. Taylor was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family. He led by example, instilling in his children a devotion to family and a strong work ethic. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as: gardening, barbecuing, fishing, hunting, and construction projects around the house. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughters Connie Kathler of Copperas Cove and Karen Brinegar of Kemah, Texas, sons Mickey Taylor and wife Virginia of Copperas Cove, Johnny Taylor and wife Christina of Kemah, and James Taylor of Burnet, sisters Patty Taylor, Josephine Scruggs, Betty Dibello, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by grandchildren Justin, Austin, Matthew, Michael, John, Joe, Jessica and Nancy, and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Morris, William, Robert, and Joseph Taylor, sisters Lucille Bates, Clara AnnWilliams, Mary Joachimi, Mildred Stevenson, Althea Neal, and Rosena Dibello. My husband, our father, our friend will be deeply missed. A celebration of his life will be held at the Oakalla Baptist Church on Saturday at 2:00 pm, the 27th day of September, 2014.
