A female was arrested by Copperas Cove police on Tuesday morning in connection with an assault which occurred on Friday, Sept. 17 on campus.
According to the arrest affidavit, a warrant was issued on Monday for Jazmyne Tianna Jackson in connection with an incident in which she allegedly punched a female student in the head and threw her cellphone at her face.
The officer issuing the complaint said that he was notified of the assault on Friday, and spoke with the victim, who had a large laceration on her face approximately 1-1/2 to 2 inches long and about ¼-inch wide. She also had a bruise in the center of her forehead between her eyebrows.
The officer reviewed the video of the incident, which showed Jackson standing in the cafeteria on her phone. All the kids were departing the cafeteria and she was standing in the middle.
The officer stated that the female victim walked by Jackson and appeared to bump her with her shoulder. Jackson then looked up from her phone and appeared to say something. The victim did not stop walk, but looked back briefly and appeared to say something, then kept walking.
Then in the video, Jackson runs after her, covering approximately five to 10 feet and used her right hand to punch the female student on the side of her head with a closed fist. The student then swings at her as she walks away.
“Another student gets in front of Jazmyne, stopping her from getting to (the student). Jazmyne runs around getting in front of (the student). After she gets in front of (the student), she throws her cellular phone at (the student’s) face.”
Assault with bodily injury is considered a class A misdemeanor.
It should be noted that this arrest is unrelated to the Thursday, Sept. 16 fight which occurred on the campus last week. At that time, six officers were dispatched in support of the two campus resource officers, due to a fight between multiple students, in which there were some injuries.
No update has been issued by the CCPD relating to any charges from that particular incident last Thursday.
