In a split vote, the Copperas Cove City Council opted to roll the dice and invest $50,000 in Austin-based lobbyist Susan D. Ross who has over 25 years of work in Texas politics as she pushes to have bills authored by State Representative J.D. Sheffield (District 59) and Senator Troy Frasier (District 34) who will file during the 2015 Legislative Session. With support from the Texas Municipal League, the city is seeking for relief for the losses incurred by House Bill 3613 adopted in 2009 that relates to the property tax exemption for disabled veterans and Senate Bill 516 relating to the property tax exemption for surviving spouses of a disabled veteran adopted in 2011.
