Purcell
Jack L. Purcell, 85, of Copperas Cove, passed away at Metroplex Hospital on Saturday, November 10.
Jack was born on Dec. 11, 1932 in San Angelo, Texas to C. V. and Louise (Dollison) Purcell. He was married to Shirley A. Purcell on June 12, 1954 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Jack was an Army veteran and a professional Engineer for 54 years. He worked as a civil engineer and project manager in Texas, Louisiana, and abroad in Tokyo, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Libya, London, and Bangladesh.
He settled in Copperas Cove as city engineer and acting city manager (1988-95) and retired as an engineer for J. Clark Homes and JWC last year.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shirley. He is survived by daughter Denise Westphal (Michael), The Woodlands; a daughter, Courtney Purcell, Copperas Cove; two sons, Jackie Purcell, Copperas Cove; Mark Purcell, Bryan; siblings Jerry Purcell (Sue), San Antonio; Judy Tyree, Lubbock; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial is set for Saturday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 101 W. Ave. F, Copperas Cove.
