Homecoming king, queen to be crowned tonight

A longstanding tradition will take place tonight when three young men and three young women who are seniors at Copperas Cove High School will take to the field of Bulldawg Stadium tonight and learn whose names will be called as the homecoming king and queen for 2018.
The candidates for Homecoming King include Easton Simpson, Jeffrey Turner, and Trevor Troy.
Easton is sponsored by Football and is the son of Amy Gallen and Aaron Simpson. He plans to study mathematics and kinesiology, and has aspirations of becoming a college football coach.
Jeffrey is sponsored by TSA/Digital Media Club and is the son of Michael Turner and Melissa Turner. He plans to enter the Air Force after graduation.
Trevor is sponsored by DECA. He is the son of Wendy Harman and Robert Troy. He plans to continue playing football at the college level and pursue studies in aerospace engineering.
The candidates for Homecoming Queen include Mikayla Devins, Hailey Hawkins, and Jayda Carter.
Mikayla is sponsored by DECA and is the daughter of Ann and Horace Devins. She plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and study biochemistry for pre-med and eventually attend Dell Medical School in Austin to earn her MD.
Jayda, likewise, is sponsored by DECA, and is the daughter of Narja and Anthony Carter. She plans to major in nursing and play college softball.
Hailey is sponsored by HOSA-Future Healthcare Professionals. She is the daughter of Brian and Teressa Hawkins. She plans to study nursing at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and also study sign language and applied humanities.
This year’s Homecoming Court also includes Emma McDonald, Freshman Duchess; Hailey Colbath, Sophomore Duchess; and Chantel Smith, Junior Duchess. Emma is sponsored by the CCHS Cheerleaders, Hailey is sponsored by Girls’ Soccer, and Chantel is sponsored by the Black Student Union.
