City sales tax revenue up for 12th straight month

The state comptroller’s office has released its sales tax revenue report for the month of April, and the city of Copperas Cove will receive a sales tax revenue check for $360,832.53, which is up 9.54 percent compared to the $329,400.55 it received in April 2017, according to the monthly report released Wednesday by state comptroller Glenn Hegar. 
Hegar’s office will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $651 million in local sales tax allocations for April, 5 percent more than in April 2017. 
These allocations are based on sales made in February by businesses that report tax monthly.
This is the 12th straight month that sales tax revenues have climbed for the city since a .08 lag during April of 2017.
Sales tax revenue overall for the city in 2018 is up 10.03 percent at $1,447,982.30, compared to the $1,373,572.62 the city had received by this time last year. 
The city of Gatesville will receive $165,315.43, up 8.92 percent from last April and overall up 7.52 percent compared to 2017.
The city of Kempner is receiving $6,865.45, a decrease of 46.78 percent from the $12,900.18 it received in April 2017. Overall, Kempner is down 30.67 percent for 2018. 
The city of Lampasas is down 1.99 percent from April 2017, receiving $125,891.10 compared to last April’s $128,451.81. 
Killeen’s sales tax revenue amount for the month is $1,787,113.66, up 2.64 percent from last April’s $1,740,980.45, and up 1.23 percent overall for 2018. 
Sales tax revenue for Harker Heights has crept up by 0.21 percent at $476,845.30, compared to last April’s $475,844.39. Harker Heights’ totals are up 3.5 percent overall for 2018. 
The city of Belton will receive $362,064 in sales tax rebates, up 5.84 percent from the $342,072.55 it received in April 2017. Belton’s sales tax revenue is up 6.70 percent for 2018.
The state of Texas is issuing $397,846,038.48 in sales tax rebates to cities, up 2.8 percent from the $386,995,058.81 it issued in April 2018. City sales tax revenue across the state is increased 2.59 percent for 2018 overall.
