Don’t Mess With Texas Trash-Off set for Saturday

On Saturday, volunteers are needed to roll up their sleeves to help as Copperas Cove participates in the annual Don’t Mess With Texas Trash-Off.
Silvia Rhoads, KCCB’s executive director, is hoping for a great turnout.
Rhoads has been identifying several areas in the city to clean up, but the amount of ground to cover depends on the number of volunteers who show up.
Volunteers should assemble in the Copperas Cove Public Library Parking, located at 501 S. Main St., at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Those who volunteer will be provided with bags and garbage pickers to use for the cleanup, and a free Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful t-shirt. After the cleanup, volunteers will be treated to a hotdog lunch in Heritage Park.
For more information, contact Silvia Rhoads at 254-547-4242, or email kccb@copperascovetx.gov.
This community-wide cleanup event is part of a larger event taking place statewide on Saturday, and is Keep Texas Beautiful’s event for the Great American Cleanup, the nation’s largest community improvement program.
KCCB documents events like the Trash-Off to include in its submission to Keep Texas Beautiful’s annual competition, in which KCCB has competed for the prestigious Governor’s Community Achievement Award, which KCCB has won first in 2013 and again in 2017, among Category Six cities.
