Cloudy and rainy since Sunday, the weather in Copperas Cove has been more than wet this week with heavy downpours rolling in. The chaotic storms brought a tornado watch the start of the week with scattered thunderstorms producing a flash flood watch throughout the area. The flood watch caused mild water overflows in intersections throughout the town and covered selected community areas with standing puddles of water stopping otherwise normal daily activities. The usual amount of rain to fall in the month of May for Cove is four inches, and with the rainy period throughout May, the weather has brought more than six inches of rain.
