Now that the Copperas Cove City League dust has cleared, the teams that survived will now test their mettle at the 2016 Texas Teenage Baseball/Softball playoffs.
The softball playoffs are well underway with teams from Copperas Cove competing at four Central Texas sites.
The Cove Chaos of the 15-and-under age division are competing in the nine-team District III tournament hosted by McGregor where they suffered lopsided losses to host McGregor and Moody to get eliminated.
A little closer to home, the 12U Copperas Cove Dynamite got their playoffs underway in Harker Heights with in the nine-team field in District 3.
The Dynamite suffered an opening round loss to the McGregor Diamonators before rallying in the play-back bracket with a win over the Harker Heights Pythons. The Dynamite faced elimination games against the Rogers Lady Eagles at 6 p.m. last night. A win would’ve fitted the Dynamite against Gatesville Triple S Contracting at 8 p.m. and a loss would send them home in the double-elimination format. Games were held after press time on Thursday.
In the 10U division, Copperas Cove’s Lady Fury and The Crush are competing in the six-team field hosted by Troy.
Last, but not least, Copperas Cove is represented in the 8U playoffs by the undefeated Copperas Cove Rangers and the Cove Angels that rallied from a four-win regular season to earn a spot at the TTAS District tournament. The tournament is being held in Moody.
