Pidcoke United Methodist Church is extending an invitation to locals to join them tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. for the church’s annual Big Feed held at the church.
For a donation, diners will get a meal of fried catfish, barbecue, beans, potato salad, coleslaw, bread, desserts and drinks.
The annual event has gone on for decades at the church, and is one of several events the church holds every year to raise funds to help communities in the county.
Church members usually pitch in with preparing the brisket, catfish, as well as making homemade potato salad and coleslaw.
On average, the Big Feed serves 125-150 people annually, but can end up serving even more.
In the past, proceeds have gone to help groups in Copperas Cove, Gatesville and Lampasas, with places like Cove House as well as the Gatesville and Lampasas food pantries receiving funds from the church’s events.
The church also hosts a community wide garage sale in August, followed by The Lord’s Acre, a one-day auction and food event in October.
The church is located at 11230 F.M. 116 north in Pidcoke.
