Tough cookies to race Sunday

The Tough Cookie Duathlon, set for March 1 starting at 9 a.m. at South Park, located at 2602 Dennis Drive in Copperas Cove, is a beginner-friendly sprint distance run-bike-run event followed by a kids’ fun run. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit the National MS Society Lone Star Chapter. The 1.5-mile run course will follow a scenic trail through South Park. The bike course is a 10-mile out-and-back course through the rolling hills of F.M. 116/Ivy Gap Road, followed by a 1.5- mile run at the park. The awards ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. The Kids’ Fun Run is a 1K run through South Park that will begin a few minutes before the awards ceremony. The event will also include free massages, goody bags, a $20 gift certificate to Happy Salon, technical race shirts and finisher awards. This is a USAT-sanctioned event.
