Hundreds of dads and daughters danced and had a blast at the second Annual Daddy Daughter Dance organized by the Youth Advisory Council this past Saturday, far exceeding the anticipated amount of participants.
There were almost 300 tickets printed out but Parks and Recreation Superintendent Nic Cantrell estimated that an additional 200-250 tickets were sold at the door. Tickets sold beforehand for $20 per couple and $5 per additional daughter. Tickets sold at the door for $25 per couple and $10 per additional daughter.
According to Kelsey Dane, the chairperson of the YAC, five months of planning went into the event. Students on the YAC got sponsors, donations, picked a color scheme, planned decorations and made sure to come up with money for things that weren’t being donated. At the actual event, YAC members set up tables and chairs and planned activities, including limbo and an arts and crafts room.
