September brings flurry of community activities

With Labor Day weekend kicking off the month of September, locals will see a number of activities coming up in Copperas Cove and locally.
Saturday, Sept. 7, will see the annual 9-11 Day of Service, held by Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful and JustServe.Org.
This year’s focus will be in the downtown area to include a cleanup. Volunteers should meet at 203 S. 2nd St.
There will be free doughnuts and coffee, and the event goes from 8-10 a.m.
A local business in Copperas Cove will be celebrating a major milestone – 25 years. On Sunday, Sept. 22, starting at 5 p.m., GymKix will be holding its 25th anniversary celebration. The free event will have photos with Bluey, Chase, and Peppa Pig, as well as dunk a coach, obstacle course, bounce houses and more. GymKix is located at 1352 Matthew Spicer Road.
The last Saturday of September will keep locals busy from morning until evening, with the annual Fall Sweep held by Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful (KCCB), as they partner with Pink Warrior Angels (PWA) for their annual Pink Warrior Dash.
The KCCB Fall Sweep will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 8-10 a.m. at Copperas Cove City Park. All interested volunteers are invited to meet in City Park, located at 1206 W Avenue B, adjacent the pond and stage area for check-in and area assignments. This event will include a clean-up of the park and all necessary supplies will be available and provided to all participants.
Pink Warrior Angels will host the 10th annual Pink Warrior Dash 5K at City Park. Registration is $40 for the event. Same day registration will start at 7 a.m. Registration can be done online at https://pinkwarriorangels.org/5k-walk-run-for-a-cause/. This event also includes a virtual race option.
The Copperas Cove Police Department and Crimestoppers are holding the National Night Out Kickoff Party in downtown Copperas Cove on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 6-10 p.m.
The event has expanded to include food trucks and vendors, along with face painting, bounce houses, and more for the whole family. Michael Carubelli will take the stage that evening for a concert at 8 p.m.
The Central Texas College Foundation will present Designer Purse Bingo from 1:30-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Central Texas Homebuilders Association, 445 E. Central Texas Expressway in Harker Heights. Doors will open at 1 p.m. and events include raffle items, special big games-Louis Vuitton and Gucci, signature drinks and bonus games. Charcuterie boards and complimentary non-alcoholic beverages will also be served. Limited seating is available. Individual tickets are $75 which includes 10 rounds of bingo. All proceeds raised from the event will go toward CTC student scholarships.
To round out the month, Holy Family Catholic Church, 1001 Georgetown Rd., is holding its 10th annual Fall Fest on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the church grounds.
The church’s annual fundraiser promises to provide family fun to welcome the fall season.
Activities during the day include activities for kids, games, food and market vendors.
Ten winners will be drawn for the annual raffle, with the grand prize a $10,000 gift card – all the way to a $100 gift card. Raffle tickets are $10 each.
