Freshman representative challenged in primary

As the March 4 Texas primary draws near, Gatesville resident Dr. J.D. Sheffield faces some hefty opposition after his freshman term in the Texas House of Representatives. In the 2012 primary, Sheffield unseated seven-term representative Sid Miller in a repeat bid for the house of representatives. Sheffield then went on to win 78 percent of the votes in District 59 against Democratic candidate Bill Norris in the November 2012 election.
