Early voting begins on Monday, May 16 for the May 24 runoff election.
Polls will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., in Copperas Cove at the Early Voting Center, located at 508-B Cove Terrace.
There is only one county race in a runoff on the Republican Party ticket, for Coryell County Commissioner Precinct 4.
Incumbent Ray Ashby and Jonesboro resident Keith Taylor are on the ballot for that particular race.
Coryell County is divided into four commissioner precincts by geography, and in late 2021, the county underwent some redistricting to balance the populations located in each precinct. The changes were made based on the growth in the county.
Voters who aren’t sure in which precinct they reside can do two things. One, they can check out the map online which shows the precincts at https://www.coryellcountytax.com/content/files/Coryell%20Voting%20map%202022-%20final.pdf?v637764794480345165
Or, voters can visit the Secretary of State website and find their precinct at https://teamrv-mvp.sos.texas.gov/MVP/mvp.do.
For both the Republican and Democratic party, several state races are on the line for the May 24 runoff.
In statewide races, Republican incumbent Attorney General Ken Paxton will face George P. Bush in the May 24 runoff.
Dr. Dawn Buckingham is in a race with Dr. Tim Westley for the Commissioner of the General Land Office.
Wayne Christian and Sarah Stogner are in a runoff for Railroad Commissioner.
Pete Flores and Raul Reyes are in a runoff for State Senate District 24.
On the Democratic ticket, Michelle Beckley and Mike Collier are in the runoff for Lieutenant Governor, Rochelle Mercedes Garza and Joe Jaworski are in the runoff race for Attorney General; Janet T. Dudding and Angel Luis Vega are in the race for Comptroller of Public Accounts; Jay Kleberg and Sandragrace Martinez are in the race for the Commissioner of the General Land Office.
The runoff winners who are in opposed races with the other parties will be on the ballot in November. In races where only one party has a candidate, the runoff winner will be the winner of that position.
