Copperas Cove VFW to hold Memorial Day event

The Olan Forest Smith VFW Post 8577 in Copperas Cove invites the community to join them on Monday, May 27, for the post’s annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Copperas Cove city cemetery, beginning at 10 a.m.

After the ceremony, the post home will be serving up hotdogs and hamburgers after the flag is raised to full staff around noon. The post is located at 1506 Veterans Ave.

In addition to the post’s Memorial Day observation, the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, located at 11463 State Highway 195 in Killeen, will hold a special Memorial Day Ceremony honoring those lost in service to the nation.

The ceremony begins at 9:45 a.m. and special guest speakers include Texas VLB Chairwoman Dr. Dawn Buckingham and Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Welcoming remarks will be given by City of Killeen, Texas - Government Mayor Debbie Nash-King.
