The Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce is still accepting registrations for this year’s downtown Christmas parade, set for Saturday, December 2 at 3 p.m.
The theme this year is “Santa’s Workshop” and there is no charge to entries to participate.
Parade-goers should expect to see plenty of floats and marching units and groups decked out in this year’s parade theme.
As during past years, the parade will leave the Copperas Cove High School rear parking lot on Avenue D and proceed along Avenue D until it reaches Cove Terrace Shopping Center, where the parade entries will enter the parking lot and disperse.
Awards will be given to bands, motorcycle/car clubs, civic organizations, floats, marching groups, performing groups, and youth floats.
This year, trophies will be presented to bands and large floats, with ribbons being awarded to the other categories.
No Santa Claus-like or Mrs. Claus-like costumes will be allowed in the parade except on the official Santa Claus float.
Parade check-in will be 1 p.m. at the Copperas Cove High School parking lot on Ave. D.
Those with floats that need assembly may arrive early and must have floats ready at 1:30 p.m. If being judged. Judging begins at 1:30 p.m. All entries must check in before the parade begins or they will not be allowed to participate. Parking in the parade line up area will NOT be tolerated; this area is for loading and unloading purposes only. For more information about entering the parade, contact 254-547-7571. Entry forms are also downloadable at the Krist Kindl Markt website at www.kristkindlmarkt.com.
