The Copperas Cove Independent School District Board of Trustees approved several purchases exceeding $25,000 during their regular meeting Tuesday evening.

The items purchased included the renewal of the Region 12 Education Service Center contract for the 2021-2022 school year, for $81,669.39, using budgeted funds; the renewal of the districtwide Frontline Education Software for the absence and substitute management; time and attendance management; IEP eStar; 504 program management and recruiting and hiring solution, for a total cost of $108,194.77. Another two purchases were for the renewal of the Skyward software license for Financial Management; Payroll; PEIMS; Human Resources; Student; and Family Access for $146,781.56, and ISCORP (Integrated Systems Corporation) - Skyward software hosting services for $26,710.56. The board also approved the district’s TASB unemployment and workers’ compensation coverage for 2021-2022, for a total cost of $182,562.

The board also approved several contracts relating to Special Education services including contracts with Margo Pace and Eldri Marshall for Special Education physical therapy services, for a contract price of $45,000 each; another contract with Lapierre Consulting LLC, worth $25,000, to supervise and support Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) interns in CCISD; a contract with Candor Consulting and Diagnosticians, LLC for $550,000 to provide services of diagnosticians, speech language pathologist and any other assessment staff as needed district wide; and a contract with Spontaneous Expressions, worth $145,000, to provide speech therapy, supervision and evaluation services as needed district wide.

The board approved the purchase of water bottle fillers, using ESSER III Funds, for a total amount of $178,547.40 from Winston Water Cooler, Ltd. With this purchase, the district will be able to replace every remaining water fountain in the district with a water bottle filler, which is more hygienic.

The board approved revisions to the Student Code of Conduct for the 2021-2022 school year. One of several revisions focused on expanding the definition of ‘Harassment’ to include: “publishing on an internet website, including a social media platform, repeated electronic communications in a manner reasonably likely to cause emotional distress, abuse, or torment to another person, unless the communications are made in connection with a matter of public concern, as defined by law.”

During the recognition portion of the meeting on Tuesday, the board recognized the CCHS Lady Dawg Volleyball team for earning the AVCA Team Academic Award; CCHS sophomore Samantha Parker for winning the local, district and state VFW National Anthem singing contest; the S. C. Lee Junior High cheerleaders for All-American selections and additional National Cheer Association Awards; the S. C. Lee Junior High dance team for All-American selections and additional American Dance/Drill Team Awards; and the CCHS FFA Chapter for winning the 2-Star National Chapter Award and their selection as a Gold Chapter.
