Approximately a dozen members of the JROTC Bulldog Battalion along with members of Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful Commission showed up on Saturday morning to beautify the welcome sign area of the Hills of Cove Golf Course.
The volunteers made quick work of digging holes to plant drought resistant native Texas bushes and shrubs, including flowering yellow damianita, orange lantanas, Texas sage, as well as two white crape myrtles, purchased by KCCB.
“These are all Texas native plants and drought resistant,” said KCCB’s executive director, Sylvia Rhoads. “We’ve got a couple of gator bags for the trees. They hold 15 gallons of water and continually water the young trees. They need to be filled about twice a week.”
