Summer reading program

Sign-ups are under way for the Copperas Cove Public Library’s children’s summer reading program, supported by the Copperas Cove Friends of the Library, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, and Texas Commission for the Arts.
All registration and summer programs are free. Children ages one through 11 may complete Reading Time Logs at three levels to receive rewards of coupons and toys. Teen events for kids up to age 15 will be held on Tuesdays in June and July.
The library will host a Summer Reading Kick-Off party on Wednesday, June 15 at 10 a.m. in the library meeting room, with a medieval combat demonstration and crafts.
Accompanying the summer reading program, there will be Toddler Time for children ages one to three on Tuesdays at 10 a.m., with a weekly Story Time for children ages three to five on Thursdays at 10 a.m. Toddler Time and Story Time have stories, songs and age appropriate crafts for children to complete.
The library is holding programs each week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Tuesday program lineup for teens ages 11-15 includes:
June 14 Creek Walk, Sylvia Tucker Park in Kempner, 10 a.m.
June 21 Sports Panel, Library Meeting Room, 2 p.m.
June 28 Let’s Play Golf, Hills of Cove Golf Course, 2 p.m.
July 5 Fun and Games, Library Meeting Room, 2 p.m.
July 12 Crafts and Games, Scavenger Hunt, Library Meeting Room, 2 p.m.
July 19 Dance-Dance-Dance (line dancing instruction) 2 p.m.
July 26 Dough Party with Domino’s Pizza, 2 p.m.
The Wednesday program schedule for ages 5-11 begins at 10 a.m. and includes:
June 22 Self Defense America
June 29 Take Care of Your Heart (CPR basics)
July 6 All Star Games and Crafts
July 13 Take Care of Your World (Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful Presentation) July 20 Field Day, City Park (all ages), 10 a.m. - noon
The Thursday show lineup for all ages includes:
June 16 Austin Reptile Show: 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
June 23 African Safari, 2 p.m.
June 30 Wild Things Zoofari: 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., all ages
July 7 Epic Entertainment, 2 p.m.
July 14 Joe McDermott Music and Fun, 2 p.m.
July 21 John O’Bryant Magic Show, 2 p.m.
July 28 Reading All Stars Pizza Party 1 p.m., 3 p.m. (for those reaching all three reading goals)
