The Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce is looking to round out one of its most vital lineups of volunteers – its board members.

The Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce, in addition to being a membership-driven organization which promotes its businesses to the Copperas Cove community and region, also acts as the tourism bureau on behalf of the City of Copperas Cove.

In addition to a resume, potential board members should submit a bio and a photo of themselves, along with a letter stating why they would like to serve on the board.

The requested information for potential board members should be sent to president@copperascove.com

The chamber is accepting the applications through Saturday, July 15.

After that date, the nomination committee will select nominees to be on the ballot. The ballot will then be sent to all current board members for voting.

Chamber Board members meet regularly to ensure that both the chamber and the visitor bureau vision and direction are clear and being met.

The chamber currently has eight seated board members and wants to add more. According to the most recent bylaws obtained, there can be as many as 12 board members who are elected to three-year terms.

The tourism bureau, along with several of the chamber’s events, are partially funded by hotel occupancy tax dollars. The chamber holds Rabbit Fest and Krist Kindle Markt as tourism events for the city. This coming year, the chamber is looking to have several of its events – the Jackrabbit Run, H-E-B Summer Run to Fun, and the Gallop or Trot 5K – become tourism events for the city once again.

The chamber also holds ribbon cuttings for its members, monthly mixers, and its Military Affairs Committee holds banquets in which it welcomes Fort Cavazos leadership to the community.
