Teams for NCAA Division II Game of C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl Announced
Almost all of the games have been played, and finally, the teams set to participate in the 15th Annual C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl on December 5th at Bulldawg Stadium. This is only half of the double header of college action to be announced, we are expecting the NJCAA teams to be released on Tuesday afternoon.
The bowl made the announcement via HeartOfTexasBowl.com, and on Twitter at @heartoftxbowl and on Facebook at Heart of Texas Bowl. The preferred hashtag for the bowl game will be #champstxbowl.
The team announced from the Lone Star Conference that Eastern New Mexico University located in Portales, New Mexico would be participating in the bowl game. The Greyhounds enter the game as the third-placed team in the Lone Star Conference regular season schedule. They completed the regular season with a 6-3 record.
Noted alumni from ENMU include Steve Kragthorpe, he served in the past as Head Coach at Tulsa and Louisville. He also coached the Quarterbacks for the Buffalo Bills in the National Football League.
Another noted alumnus is Bill Snyder; he is currently the Head Coach of Kansas State University with a 190-100-1 record for the Wildcats. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
Representing the Great American Conference will be the Wonder Boys from Arkansas Tech University from Russellville, Arkansas. They completed a successful 2015 season with an 8-3 overall record. Tech was a member of the Gulf South Conference from 1995 to 2011.
Former player from the past for the Wonder Boys was Eddie Meador, he played 12 years in the National Football League, he was a 7th round pick for the Los Angeles Rams in 1959.
The December 5th game will be at 6:00 CST in Bulldawg Stadium in Copperas Cove, Texas.
