Cove run-rules Ellison 11-1; Lady Dawgs clinch playoff berth with 9-0 win over Heights

KILLEEN - After dropping three of the last four district games, the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs’ baseball team desperately needed to secure a win over rivals Ellison on their field – something head coach Dusty Brittain has been unable until now.
The Dawgs pounded out 14 hits for 11 runs on the way to an 11-1 mercy-rule win over the Eagles Friday night at Eagle Field.
“I’ve been over here twice and I’ve been over there in that huddle disappointed because they handed us one we thought we should have won, so it’s nice to be able to come through with big hits, have a big inning and get a quality win,” said Brittain. “I was really proud of the kids tonight.
