WACO – Although his time in Copperas Cove was short, senior Martinez “Marty” Rogers was more than happy to be the lone representative for the Bulldawgs on the Red Team in the eighth annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes Victory Bowl Saturday night at Waco ISD Stadium in Waco.
“For me to only have played at Copperas Cove for one year, it means a lot to represent them,” he said. “I feel like I left a great impact for Copperas Cove on this field today.”
Impact is a good word as the defensive battle that resulted in a 7-6 Blue Team victory was largely impacted by the play of Rogers and the defenses of both squads. The interior defensive lineman had several big stops in the contest but none bigger than a sack on Blue Team quarterback Hunter Parrish of Goldwaithe that forced a punt deep in Blue territory.
