BELTON - Copperas Cove’s Michael Hays has seen his share of battles with his Harker Heights and Belton rivals Tyler Torres, Trent Stafford and Tanner Frick but on Friday the former select and youth baseball teammates, turned 12-6A rivals, came together for something more than just another game in the inaugural Fellowship of Christian Athletes Victory Bowl Baseball Game.
“It definitely feels good to come out here one last time and win with people I grew up with my whole life” said Hays. “It really just takes you back to old times when we were little kids. It was really a great experience to come out here with them one last time before we all go our separate ways.”
Torres felt the same. “It felt good to play with them again,” he said. “When we’d play each other in district, we would see who could outdo who but it’s all fun in the end. We all love the game and go out there and play with all of our heart.”
