Lake pitches no-hitter; Dawgs get first win

The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs got back into the win column on the strength of sophomore pitcher Conner Lake’s no-hitter against Trinity Valley Saturday afternoon. The Dawgs gave Lake plenty of run support in a 10-0 rout which got called after 5 ½ innings due to the 10 run “mercy rule.” The win capped a tournament that saw the Dawgs go 2-1-1. The Cove ballclub took third place in a tournament which included Cove, San Angelo and Hays Lehman in Pool A; Pflugerville Connally, Trinity Valley and Academy in Pool B.
