Cove junior Madelyn Miller notched a first-place finish at the Beltway Junior Golf Tour event at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco on Tuesday while sophomore Elle Fox notched a second-place finish at the two-day Legends Junior Tour Alamo Shootout held on Monday and Tuesday.
Miller notched an 18-over-par 90 to tie Lorena junior Jordyn Linnstaedter before winning in a playoff.
Miller had a strong start with pars on four of the first five holes and was just four-over-par through the first seven holes.
A field-best 75 in the opening round had Fox out front after day one of the tournament. She had just one hole above par in 14 of the 18 holes, including 10-consecutive holes at par or below. Fox birdied the 317-yard par 4 eighth hole and the 112-yard par 3 10th hole for the three-over-par finish on day one.
Sora Kim of Houston then carded the best round on day two to add to her 80 on day one to take the tournament by three strokes over Fox with a combined 155. Fox finished with a two-round total of 158 to finish second in the field of 21 golfers.
The golfers had to play 30 consecutive holes on day two due to a rain-shortened first round.
