The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs had several opportunities to even their season series with the Ellison Eagles on Friday night but two break away goals by Ellison early in the second half cost the Dawgs in the close 3-2 loss at the Avenue E soccer complex in Cove.
The senior-laden squad fought hard to keep their season on track in their final contest for the seniors at the Avenue E Complex after being relocated from Bulldawg Stadium to accommodate the Five Hills junior high track meet.
“I told the seniors, ‘this was their last time to play at Avenue E and it’s their last time to play Ellison in their high school careers so go out in style,’” said Cove head soccer coach Mitch Flores. “I’m proud of them. Last time Ellison beat us 4-1 so we’ve made improvements.”
