Crush outlasts pack for 12U state crown

When Stephenville Crush’s Tayliegh Pendleton approached the pitcher’s circle in the sixth inning of the 12-under Texas Teenage Association Softball State Tournament showdown with the Rockdale Blasters on Thursday, she knew she was just three outs away from a state championship – a goal that her and her teammates worked hard for all year. After the three outs, the intense scowl of an athlete determined to win, transformed into a tearful 12-year-old girl seeking an embrace from her loving father. After retiring the side to secure the championship, Tayliegh launched herself into the arms of her father and head coach Jeff Pendleton where they both exchanged tears and hugs for what seemed like forever.
