The Lady Dawgs, as expected, made quick work of the Shoemaker Lady Wolves on Tuesday night in a contest that lasted just over an hour. Senior captain Mikayla Blount continues to lead her team by example, recording a triple-double in her teams’ 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-15) sweep of the Lady Wolves in Bulldawg gymnasium. Blount, who has been coming to Cove volleyball camps since first grade, recorded her 17th double-double on the season (seven in District 12-6A) and her 13th triple-double on the year (fifth in 12-6A) in the win. “She is very important (to our team’s success) and she’s a great kid and a great leader. Mikayla has been coming to my volleyball camps since she was in first grade. I feel like I’ve been coaching her for her entire life. She is smart. She’s a straight A student and I believe she’s in the top 10 percent of her class. She steps up and fills in the cracks and is always smooth.”
