Copperas Cove Lady Dawgs soccer team plays to honor their coach, wins
Copperas Cove’s Emily Poste chases down a loose ball in front of the goal of the Bryan Lady Eagles. Poste scored two of the Lady Dawgs four goals in their 4-1 win with Brianna Miles and Emma Crawley. The win improves Cove’s record to 2-1 for a tie with Bryan for third place in District 12-6A. The boys’ soccer team also earned a PK win 1(5) - 1(3) over Bryan on the road. Both teams played in honor of coach Pat Rox who tragically died on Monday in an automobile accident. Coach Rox had been a longtime coach in the CCISD athletic department, most recently head girls’ soccer coach. He was planning to retire at the end of the school year. “Tonight’s game and victory is dedicated to the late Coach Pat Rox,” the Lady Dawgs said in a Twitter post. “You are loved and will be missed greatly by all.” The boys team also posted a message to coach Rox. “Our beloved Coach Rox was in a fatal car accident on his way to see his son and grandkids. Coach Rox was a great man, mentor and coach.”
