Copperas Cove football games canceled for this week

The second 12-6A football game was cancelled or postponed last week, and the latest one hit close to home as hours before kickoff on Friday, coronavirus concerns at Copperas Cove High School forced the cancellation or postponement of last Friday night’s scheduled showdown between the hosting Killeen Kangaroos and visiting Copperas Cove Bulldawgs at Leo Buckley Stadium in Killeen. 

No information has been made available as to whether the game will be rescheduled to a later date or canceled altogether . 

A press release from Killeen ISD spokeswoman Taina Maya on Friday said the game may be played at a later date and an email from Copperas Cove athletic secretary Becky Jewell stated, “As of right now, we have no info on rescheduling. They are working on things.” 

The Copperas Cove ISD has reported 34 active cases, including 20 students and five staff members at the high school according to the district’s Covid-19 dashboard updated Monday, Nov. 9. 

On Monday, it was learned that due to COVID-19 concerns, all Copperas Cove football games sheduled for this week have also been cancelled.

CCISD will reevaluate on Friday for next week’s home contest with Bryan.

No rescheduling has been made on last Friday’s cancelled game against Killeen or Thursday’s contest against Ellison
