Tonight, the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs look to bounce back from their tough loss against the Georgetown Eagles as they kick off against the Georgetown Eastview Patriots at 7:30 p.m.

Last year, the Patriots went 4-6 (3-4 in district). The key players to watch for in this game for the Patriots are  DL DJ Perez, WR/DB Grover Moore, DB Elder Isokpunwu, RB Jae’lin Edmondson, RB Assdriel Dianas-Elizalde, QB Ryan Pullen, OB Ty Blair, OL/DL Vance Herd, OL/DL Santiago Amato, OL/DL Austin Cain, OL/DL Niky Moura, OL/DL Davis Jones, K Patrick Maxwell.

Just like the Bulldawgs, the Patriots have a new head coach who inherits a team with mostly his entire offensive line intact which means he has a nice foundation to build around to help his RBs Edmondson and Dianas-Elizalde.

On their defensive side. DL Perez last year tallied 87 tackles and 12 sacks and has earned two all-district awards. He is a force to be reckoned with.

Last week the Eastview Patriots took on Round Rock Westwood and lost 42-27. The stat leaders for the Patriots are RB Jae’lin Edmundson who last week had 50 yards receiving and 70 yards rushing, RB Assdriel Dianas-Elizalde who had 2 touchdowns, SS Kash Trejo who had 9 total tackles and OL/DL Santiago Amato who had 1 sack.

The Bulldawgs  are looking for their first win of the season and are hoping to get that win against the Patriots.

Last Friday. they fell to the Georgetown Eagles 38-14. Although it was a tough loss for the Dawgs, they now know what they must do to come out victorious tonight.

They need to adjust from getting 7 penalties last week against the Eagles, which played a key factor in their loss.

The top stats for last week’s game are as follows: Gabriel Rodriguez went 11-21 on passing for 90 yards with 1 passing touchdown, 1 rushing touchdown and 1 interception, and Craig Brown had 123 rushing yards. Multiple defensive players had 3 tackles and the defense tallied 2 sacks and a fumble recovery.

Coach Johnson knows his team made mistakes last week.

“You can’t win games with penalties. So, we’d have these drives, and they’d stall. We’d have these other drives, and they stall. You know, you can’t have that, and then you have a couple of turnovers. And so, it’s those little things that you must finish to be a perfect team and we didn’t do that tonight,” Johnson stated after last week’s game.

Johnson hosted an event on Wednesday this week called Coffee With the Coach, where he met with members of the community and showed film and talked with them about how the Dawgs are over their tough loss and are looking to make a rebound this week against the Patriots.
